Initiatives’ staff supporting the SUSTAIN project:
Irene Biraro-Seguya serves as the Human Resources Technical Advisor for Strengthening Uganda Systems for Treating AIDS Nationally (SUSTAIN) based in Kampala, Uganda. She is responsible for providing technical assistance for SUSTAIN’s human resource interventions at regional and district hospitals. Specifically, she is responsible for appraising the health workforce with SUSTAIN supported facilities, enhancing human resource planning, assessing and implementing strategies to improve employee engagement and strengthening partnerships as well as coordinating with the ministry of health and other key stakeholders in human resources management and mprovement.
Ms. Biraro-Seguya brings over 18 years experience working as a nurse as well as a manager in various health care settings Kenya, Uganda, Australia and Botswana. Her skills include performance management and competency evaluation in nursing. In her previous work, she developed procedure guidelines and adapted standards to the context of care in Uganda. She holds a Master of Philosophy in HIV/AIDS Management from Stellenbosch University, South Africa.
